Bob Scott’s

In generations loved bothy set in an idyllic place in the Cairngorms National Park right next to the Lui river. It is arguably the most popular bothy in the area offering easy access and exceptional comfort without sacrificing the feel of being one with nature.

Bob Scott’s bothy stands on flat grounds surrounded by a few pine trees in a beautiful area next to Lui Water and scenic hills in the background. By the looks, you could never tell that this bothy has had a long and difficult history. It has burned down to the ground twice and has been rebuilt three times. For generations, it is very loved by climbers and walkers and bothy stands there today thanks to these good folks, their support, and their donations.

The current Bob Scot’s bothy is built from stone and wood with a tin roof and it features a multifuel stove. There is a sleeping platform with usable space for sleeping underneath making it a very spacious accommodation. It has a front porch with doors between the main bothy and entrance which also helps to keep the cold out. Outside there is a septic tank toilet and water available from the Lui river.

Features

The bothy has a toilet, a very efficient stove, chairs, a table, a separate area for cooking pots, and a large sleeping platform.

Location

This is such a lovely bothy we almost wish it was harder accessible to keep the crowds away. While the location offers tranquility and amazing views, it is close to major walkers trails and close to a popular car park. This means that when camping at bothy you are likely to often have visitors that are passing through.

Size

Looking from the outside the bothy doesn’t look as spacious as it is. There is enough space to comfortably accommodate 12 people.

Comfort

The insulation is among the best we have experienced in any bothy and the multi-fuel stove is fantastic. There are comfortable chairs to sit on when relaxing at the stove with friends. Toilet outside is a luxury and makes the stay so much more convenient. This bothy makes you feel like you’re in a holiday home rather than a bothy.

Note! When using Bob Scot’s toilet, flush it down with a bucket of water provided. Put nothing other than human waste and toilet paper down the hole! Other things like wet wipes do not break down in the tank and will cause blockages which will result in the toilet being unavailable.

Accessibility 10/10

The bothy is very easily accessible from Linn of Dee car park which is 40 minutes away. There are very good roads leading right to the bothy.
